Nazriya is in demand

Nazriya Nazim is not even a film old, yet she has managed to replace two prominent Malayali actresses in films they had signed up for.

Initially, Archana Kavi had been roped in to play the role of Mariya in Revathy S Varma's Maad Daad. Archana was also quite excited about the role in which she was to play actor and director Lal's daughter. But the excitement didn't last long as Archana could not take up the flick due to date clashes. And the role went to Nazriya, who was until then busy with television shows and music albums.

More recently, there was buzz about Bhama's modern-yet-no-make-up look in Alphonse Puthran's directorial debut, Neram. She was to play the role opposite Thattattin Marayathu fame Nivin Pauly. In an earlier interview with us, Bhama had mentioned that this role could be a turning point in her career as it is very different from what she has done in Malayalam till date. "Since it is directed by Alphonse, whose music album Yuvvh was a huge hit, I was only too happy to take up the role," the actress had said.

However, sources inform us that Bhama had to call it quits after shooting for 10 days for this film in Chennai. "Bhama is busy with a Kannada film and in a few days she will start shooting for Shafi's 101 Wedding. So she could not give out bulk dates for Neram," says a source, explaining why she had to opt out.

So once again it was advantage Nazriya. That the actress had earlier featured in Alphonse's hit music video with Nivin only made things easier. However, our sources say that the director actually had Nazriya in mind when he finalised on Neram. "At that point, Nazriya could not take up the role as she was busy with exams. The director had to opt for Bhama instead. Now, with the turn of events, as well as the fact that Nazriya's done with her exams, she is only too happy to be a part of the project," says the source.
